We've been on the road a lot lately. A four month stay in Japan - which included a two week trip to Italy, as well as a ten-day stay in the Philippines - was followed by our return to Baja, and then an Arizona-to-Washington and back adventure. Now, Kyra and I are preparing for yet another overzealous endeavor. With the help of Motorcyclist Magazine and Indian Motorcycles, we are about to embark on the “Great American Motorcycle Adventure,” riding an Indian Scout and Scout Sixty from California to Key West. The journey - some 3,000 miles in total - will test our wills, as well as our willingness. We’re eager to expand our horizons, cross State lines, and forego ‘must see’ destinations in order to find our own way from one side of this glorious country to the other. This is going to be good, #Scouts_Honor!

Baja Bound
Before we leave for Baja at the end of October, Kyra and I have a lot of logistics, equipment and other shit to sort out. A month in Mexico aboard small dual-sports is no easy feat, and so in an effort to organize our accessories I put together a different sort of duds - one absent of surfing stuff. I'm sure some of you would love to give me shit since I haven't been surfing this summer, but all this Baja business is taking up a lot of my time and energy, and to be honest, it's been rather nice not worrying about waves. Because dirt bikes are always awesome, and they certainly won't skunk you on a Sunday. It's a different addiction, no doubt - petrol replacing peelers - but it's been beneficial, not spending my weekends searching for surf, allowing other activities to occupy a similar space. So with that said, take a look at some of the stuff we'll be taking with us on our #WESTx1000 adventure.

Southern Summer
Sounds like I'll be spending the summer in Southern California. Maybe Malibu, or somewhere near San Clemente. Surf is certain, but so are long afternoons spent sitting inside, making money with my Macintosh. And so for the latest edition of #duds, I've decided to include a few indoor essentials - coffee from my part of the country, some bad ass blues, beer that'll make you feel like it's Friday and a briefcase-turned-backpack so you can make that money come Monday. Follow the link for a list.

So-Cal Sojourn
Sounds like I'll be spending the month of March searching for surf in Southern California. My friend Chris, who traveled with Karissa and I to Costa Rica, will be co-piloting Fargo the Cargo Van from Seattle to So-Cal. We'll be leaving Sunday, March 2nd and will spend a week at Point Mugu with Chris' wife, Rena, before heading further south. Aside from our stay at NBVC, we are without obligations or an itinerary. So with that being said, I thought I'd put together another #duds feature, highlighting a few of the things I'd like to take with me on this month long surfari.

Cause Costa Rica
Karissa, Chris, Rena and I are headed to Costa Rica in a couple of weeks. Fifteen days of surf, sun, etc. Unable to return to a certain southern surf spot due to circumstances out of our control (read: the government), we settled on a spot in Costa Rica that a friend (and fellow log lover) had suggested. We'll be staying in the northwestern corner of the country, walking distance from a beautiful beach break that offers everything from a soft inside section, to powerful peelers a little further out. And offshore wind... all day, every day. So with just fourteen days to pack and prepare for our adventure, I thought I'd put together another #duds collection featuring a few things I'll be taking to Costa Rica.

Winter Wants
Those cold winter months are just moments away. Soon I'll blow big clouds of condensation into clenched fists; waiting for the frost on Fargo's windshield to slowly dissipate so that I can see. There will be waves, but it'll be increasingly more arduous to enjoy them. Thick(er) suits and wool shirts and bottles of bourbon will make evening sessions an option. But the sun will set before six, and cooking over a campfire will become increasingly more difficult as wet wood and sideways rain are ever-present. I'll be damned if we don't make due, though. And in the end, when the sun starts to stay up a little longer and the sweater I've been wearing is clearly overkill, I'll eagerly await the winter. Because this time of year is unlike others, unlike elsewhere. It's difficult, no doubt, but rewarding in its own way. So to help me stay stoked through these next few months, here's what's on my winter #wishlist.

For Fall
Fall is right in front of us, and honestly I'm looking forward to it. Cold mornings mean warm cups of coffee, and early evenings are an excuse to light a log in our mid-century Malm fireplace. Maybe we'll watch more movies, and there will certainly be more soup consumed. But I'm alright with that. We'll dress in dark denim, rubber boots and an assortment of sweaters. We'll sip on strong drinks around small campfires. Because you find real friends in the fall. When the summer surfers stay in the city and you start seeing the same six people every weekend. The damned and the dedicated. Swell direction and tidal pushes of the utmost importance. And while fall will eventually turn to winter, it is an incredible time of year. One filled with friends and food and plenty of time spent waiting for waves. Follow the link to see a few of my favorite things this fall.

Summer Stuff
Sixty five and sunny spells summer in Seattle. Everyone slips on their shorts and their sandals and the sunglasses buried in their glove compartment. They ride their bikes along Alki and fill their Coleman coolers full of Corona. All the things they wish they could do more than once or twice every twelve months. For me, however, summer means spending even more time outside of the city - shooting slingshots and building big ass fires and cooking with cast iron. It means eight hours in the water, jazzing some goddamn glass. And drinking big brown bottles of beer that I can barely lift because my arms are all out of energy. Yes, summer might be short lived, but that doesn't mean you can't make the most of it. Because after all, the sweet wouldn't be as sweet without the sour. And having some cool stuff might help you have a little more fun. Follow the link to see what's on my summer shit list.

Spring Fling
I think spring is a good time to get some new shit. Now I'm not talking about all that pastel colored, warm and fuzzy, let's pretend it's already summer stuff. I'm interested in things that'll help me stay stoked. Like a brand new surfboard, or a denim jacket that I can wear for a decade. Or howsabout a wool blanket - something that'll keep me warm on those cold April evenings. Or a proper pipe. You know, for shmokin. Anyhow. I went through my #wishlist and came up with a few things I thought everyone would be interested in. Follow the link for my list.
